Paved Paths

The Allen Brook Nature Trail is a short 0.5 mile loop trail (paved) that passes through small stand of woods on the Williston Central School property. The trail crosses over the Allen Brook, where there is a boardwalk and observation platform for nature study or quiet contemplation. There are two playgrounds on the school property. One is specifically for younger children.

Along the edges of Lake Champlain is a scenic 12-mile trail that extends from downtown Burlington north through Colchester onto the Causeway. It's a multi-use trail so you will see walkers, runners, inline skaters and bikers. It's wide enough and relatively flat so jogging strollers or burlees are do-able for the little ones.
Note: it is paved with the exception of 5 miles in Colchester.

The 168-acre park is located atop Mt. Philo (968' elevation) and overlooks the Lake Champlain Valley and the Adirondack Mountains of New York. A narrow, steep road (not recommended for trailers) provides visitors access to the top of the mountain. This is Vermont's oldest state park, created in 1924.

The Burlington Skate Park is located on Lake Street, just north of Waterfront Park. This facility, for skateboarders, bikers and in-line skaters offers rails and ramps, boxes, a half bowl and half pipe. Adjoining the park to the north is a lighted in-line hockey rink which is flooded in the winter for ice skating. Located off from North Ave. Ethan Allen Park is an historic site, with views of the Green Mountains, Adirondacks and Lake Champlain from Ethan Allen Tower. Primary a natural area, with picnic facilities, overlook areas and hiking trails, Ethan Allen Park also connects to the Bike Path and has a playground.

Located at the end of Flynn Avenue, Oakledge park has over 2400 foot of waterfront. Facilities include:
- swimming beach with rocky shore (no lifeguard)
