4-H stands for Head, Heart, Hands and Health. The basic philosophy behind the 4-H is that informal education can be a valued addition to a young person's learning processes. These programs are developed cooperatively in partnership the the US Department of Agriculture, UVM Extension and other land-grant colleges across the country and local communities. 4-H teaches youth leadership citizenship and life skills.

Wheeler School, the Winooski Middle School, the Main Clubhouse at 62 Oak Street in Burlington and the Living room, a teen center a the U Mall in South Burlington. This 4-H club is for kids 8-17. The club is split up into different club "teams" that have chosen topics of interest that they are investigating through projects, presentations and study. Currently there are four teams pursing their interest in horses, insects, sewing and calves.

The Young Adventurers Club is a new group of the Montpelier Section of the Green Mountain Club to get parents and kids 0-6 years old outdoors, to hike, play, learn, and make friends. They keep their activities local. Most adventures start at 10:00am and are led by fellow parents.
