My two-and-a-half-year-old loved the fair this year. It was a little pricey, especially for the rides, but having been to the fair before it was no surprise. There are plenty of attractions that are included with the price of admission so there isn't a shortage of things to do. We had fun walking around and checking out all the attractions and people-watching. I also loved that Skinny Pancake had a booth so there was an option for a fresh, healthier fair lunch than the traditional fried offerings.

My only complaint is the quality of the infant care station. It was marked as a clean, quiet space to nurse and change diapers, but frankly, it was rather disgusting. The "nursing spot" was a dirty metal fold-up chair. The changing table hadn't been cleaned from the person who used it before us. Diaper changing in the bathroom wasn't any better. There was a changing table attached to a filing cabinet with a pile of shutters (?) on top. Didn't seem too safe. We bagged this tent and did diaper changes in the grass on a blanket we brought and I nursed the baby at a picnic table that was in the shade.

Good end-of-summer fun. But here are a few tips to save some MONEY:

1) Give blood at the Red Cross center on South Prospect and get yourself a free admission ticket.

2) Purchase ride bracelets in ADVANCE at price Chopper markets and save $5 each.

The fair is expensive enough, no reason to not take advantage of these great programs.

Fun family day, although I wish they would skip the lion/tiger show. The farm animal exhibits, craft show and veggie judging are definitely the highlights of the day for us. The maple sugar shack provides naturally sweet treats, and the midway is definitely worth a stroll down to try out a ride or two.

Prices tend to be extremely high for food and rides, but as a once a year treat, I would definitely recommend at least one afternoon at the fair....more

My family loves going to the fair. It is something we look forward to ending out summer with every year. There is so much to do and see and fun things for the kids to do, that its a great family event. We tell everyone about it every year, and reccomend it as a great end of summer activity for other families.

The FAIR is always fun but getting very expensive. The ride prices went up in 2011 ($30 for a bracelet!) and it's so hard to be able to afford it...and I only have ONE child! How do larger families afford it? You can go to the great Escape for about the same price. Nonetheless, we still attended this fun, local event.

The fair is a family tradition. It is very expensive, but we all have a great time and generally feel it is worth it. We especially enjoyed the animals, and the scavenger hunt punch stations for the kids was clever. My only complaint was that the published schedule for all of the free shows was completely wrong. Only when we arrived at a venue would we learn that the show had just happened or would be much later. I had tried to plan out our day including some key events, and it was really frustrating. Most disappointing was that the circus time was moved from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. I had told my 4 year old we were going, but her bedtime is 7:30, so the timing was not good. I had checked the schedule online before going, and no updates to the show times were posted....more

We had such a great time at the fair this year! My middle-schoolers and 4th-grader enjoyed it, as they do such a good job of having something for everyone. The concert venue is fantastic too, with bands that can be enjoyed by the entire family! I found that at night, it was very well-lit, too. Having several children under my care for our evening there, it was quite easy to keep track of them all as we walked around, as it wasn't cloaked in darkness or shadows. I appreciated that and it made me feel like evening/night was an option to help ensure it could fit into our busy family life!...more
