The fair has a very nice assortment of live animal exhibits, games, rides and food. However the fair is the same as it was 30 years ago and could use an update desperately. I for one would like to see something that personifies Vermont more (a bit more farmers market like) and less like a dirty old junk fest full of worn our rides, garbage food and animals in need of better care.

I will add though if you want real entertainment this fair has the funniest assortment of visitors you'll see anywhere in Vermont. Definitely nothing you'll find at a farmers market, summer concert series or berry/harvest festival, more like what you'd find at a mudfest or 50 shades of camo......more

I love the Champlain Valley Fair I look forward to it every year it is great for the family. I have been for the last 28 years or so I can remember all the fun I had as a child. I love all the food it is once a year treat. And I look forward to bringing my nieces and nephews every year.

The fair is good family fun. Because they have something for any age or for everyone to do. It's a great place to go and I have gone just about every year since I was a child.:)

I like to attend the fair, but it definitely requires some budgeting! Tips to enjoy the fair include: Make sure everyone has plenty to eat before they get there, then they can try one or two special treats once there. The all-day ride pass is definitely better than buying tickets. I find that if we spend time with the hands-on activities, exhibits, and farm animals FIRST (and I make it clear that we have an hour or two to do that before anything else), then we can save a little and also build a little anticipation. Allot a specific amount of money ($10 or so) for games but no more. Those can awaken a frustrating compulsion, especially when the little ones lose or get only small prizes. Look for discounts at Price Chopper! ...more

We love coming here every year although it's a little pricey. There's not many rides that the little ones can ride without an adult so make sure you get a bracelet too. The kids love the petting zoo.

We look forward to the CVF every year. Can remember going every year as a child and now with my own family and two young boys. They love all the animals, tractors, events at the grandstand, and rides. Of course the pig in a blankets, corn on the cob and ice cream are a must and we tend to go at least 3-4 days of the fair. It is pricey and seems to get more each year but still a fun family friendly event that we love. We live within walking distance so we often will even go just for dinner and an evening walk. Hoping for new things to see this year!...more

There are definitely Pros and Cons with the Champlain Valley Fair and little kiddos. A major pro is the fact it is local and an easy drive for a day event. I also like the fact they have so many shows included with your ticket price, a ton of animals for your family to look at and many hands on activities. On the negative side once your there is will cost you some $$$ to eat, ride, shop, etc. The good news in you can bring your own food and beverages and you can leave and come back throughout the day....more
