Great egg hunt! Make sure to get there early to get some eggs. The playground is wonderful after the event too!

We attended the 2012 Easter Egg Hunt for the first time yesterday with our 3 year old. The event was well run and VERY well attended. I will echo the recommendation of others, get there early if you want any shot of finding eggs. Parking is fairly abundant at the high school. Everyone then lines up for the 2 age groups on the length of bike path leading up to Bayside Park. We showed up at 9:50 and found ourselves at the end of a line of approximately 200-250 people waiting for the 4 year olds and under hunt. We could not hear the announcer from where we were in line and unfortunately, all the eggs were gone by the time that we got to the park. That said, the organizers did a nice job "replanting" extra eggs for the kids that didn't get any and then walking around to make sure the kids that didn't get anything got some candy. There was also a nice photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny and a great playground to play on. Its not for the agoraphobic, but worth a trip if you get there early....more

My 2 year old had a great time at this event. We'd never been to a public egg hunt before, and we were pleasantly surprised. There was an abundance of eggs for the little kids to "find" (i.e. pick up off the ground, off tables, from around trees), and although it was a little hectic to get around all the rushing kids, we walked away with plenty of eggs. Many thanks to the volunteers who put this event on!

We have gone to the Colchester Easter Egg Hunt for 3 years now. We have always done the 5 and over hunt. It is awesome!! The eggs are hidden throughout a field and into the woods. Some of the eggs are tricky to find which adds to the experience. It's not just a race to grab as many eggs as you can. It's a real hunt. Our experience has been that there have been plenty of eggs for everyone. We highly recommend this hunt!

As a former member of Colchester Lions Club (who sponsors the event) I just want it to be known that there IS a limit put on how many eggs a child can have. But this is really the parent's responsibility as there is simply nowhere near enough Lions members to check every child's basket. My advice? Show up well before start time - and have fun!!!

We had a wonderful time at the egg hunt! It was a nice day so it was crowded (as expected). The "rules" were shouted out at the beginning of the hunt....limit of 10 eggs per child...4 and under in one field....5 and up in another...no running...for those who showed up late, there was probably little chance to find an egg.
We've gone to this egg hunt many times over the years. The best years to go are when the weather is a bit rainy. Hardly anyone shows up, and the kids make out like bandits! They never seem to mind a little rain when they have a ton of eggs to hunt.

I am so glad you are able to do this for families in the area. I must admit, however, I was very disappointed with the organization and overall process. We showed up with our very eager 5 year old to hunt some eggs, we hunted for over 30 minutes and found 1 egg. Mean while there were kids walking around with baskets and bags full. To be fair for all you should have limited the number of eggs per child.
