This is a good, economical, stand-by for the extra cold days. I would say this is more suited towards younger children just due to the equipment available. Children over 3 would probably get bored quickly. The gym is also a small space so on popular days it's pandaemonium in there. I would recommend finding a guest pass or spring for the $15 day pass and combine the open gym with the pool.

The setup is nice-having the ball pit, mats, and area to bike or play w/ balls. There is a wider range of ages, but still mostly toddlers.
It is great in the winter when u need to get out, and $5 isn't too bad to pay to play.
My son usually doesn't last more than an hour; either too close to naptime or he gets bored of being in the gym.

We've gone to this for the past 2 weeks, and we love it! I have a 13 month old and he has a blast climbing all over the place and playing in the ball pit. It does get a little hectic. However, it's a great place to let the little monsters burn some energy. For a few extra dollars you can buy a day pass at the Y and swim after! Great way to spend a cold winter Sunday.

This is one of my little guy's favorites. There is a ball pit, tricycles, small basketball hoops, tons of balls, you name it! It can get a bit crazy in there, so you definitely want to be prepared to keep your eye on your little one at all times.

Being new to the area and not knowing what to do with little ones during the cold months we decided to try out the Friday morning play time. My 3 1/2 year old son had a blast riding the over sized trikes and my 15 month old enjoyed climbing in the ball pit. It was a little crazy as there were probably 35 or so kids but with not much to do during the winter it is to be expected. Will do again!

Once a month, we attend Family night at the YMCA. Its great through the cold winter months. We go swim, then head up to the gym for some open play. They usually have a bounce house up and lots of tumbling mats and scooters. Around 6:30, we all pull up some mats, and have pizza, popcorn and some goodies, while watching a movie. Its a great family event and you get to meet other families.

Ah winter in Vermont. Only so many indoor places that the kiddos can get out their ya, yas. If you live in or near Burlington and are looking for something to do on a weekend morning when when winter has not whitened the world or its just too darn cold out for the wee ones, the Y Family Gym is the place to go. The kids can run themselves ragged and there is padded equipment almost everywhere so even if they take a tumble or two, no worries....more

The YMCA's Family Gym has provided my family a great opportunity to give our children access to meet new families while providing a safe environment to have our very active son tire himself out playing basketball, hockey, in the ball pit, using the tricycles, etc. Often there is also a staff person who provides face painting. It's great!
