Kids Workshop @ Home Depot
Ages: 5 - 12
The Home Depot's Kids Workshops are free "how-to-workshops" for kids ages 5-12. These sessions are offered on the first Saturday of each month. Kids could make toolboxes, fire trucks, mail organizers, or a window birdhouse.
The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children.
Each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons, and an achievement pin for each project they complete.

We love this program! I wish they did it more often! Great little kit for the kids, and my daughter loves to paint what she builds.

My family loves attending this free event! The projects are easy enough, my 8 and 10 year old require little help. When you go you'll receive an apron for each kid and a project packet with simple directions. When they finish the kids receive a pin and certificate of completion and of course they will take home there project. oh and don't forget they give away popcorn at the entrance so don't fret if you forgot a snack.

My Son and Husband love going to the workshops! My Son is 3 but he can still work on the projects with assistance from my husband and he LOVES when he gets to paint and put stickers on his project too. The Home Depot associate is wonderful as well!!

Ohhh, we just love the kids building workshops! It is the cutest thing ever. My little builders put on their Home Depot aprons, and get right to work :) Its great that they have something new to build everytime. It is pretty simple, and the projects usually only include a few nails and some wood glue. I love the smile on my little ones faces, when they recieve their pin and certificate paper! The only downfall may be that its on a Satuday,...more

My husband and daughter enjoy dropping in Saturday mornings. Although it is listed for 5+, my 3 year old can do the projects with minimal assistance. It's all free and includes supplies, an apron, and a pin for completing the project. However, it's only 15-20 minutes to complete, which isn't really worth a 30 minute round trip unless we need to go to Home Depot anyway.
