The first annual Lake Champlain Storytelling Festival will take place this fall at the Maritime Museum—and out on Lake Champlain. Maritime Yarns will showcase some of the region’s best storytellers, historians, and fireside yarn-spinners and give them a chance to share their knowledge of the lake.
Morning sessions will focus on families; afternoon sessions will take storytellers and listeners onto the lake in tour boats, pilot gigs, or canoes. In addition, there will be opportunities for members of the public to pipe up and record their own stories about the lake, and a special program of Native American games, dancing, and storytelling for children.
Saturday evening, participants can enjoy a “Fish Tale Dinner” at the Red Mill Restaurant and then relax with more stories by the fireside.
