Get to this parade early. They close off the entrances to Vergennes from Rte 7. We were left to park at the Chevy dealership at the corner of Rte. 7 and Monkton Rd and walk in to town. Folks with little ones might bring a stroller or wagon for just this reason. We didn't make it to the green, but sat in front of the HS which proved to be just fine as this is the starting point for the parade.

Bring a bag as there is loads of candy tossed from the floats, tractors, fire trucks, marching bands and old fashioned cars. A highlight of this 1 hour 15 minute parade included the Shriners not only in their regular mini fire engines, but now they have added mini monster trucks to the mix! Also the bag pipers were beautiful. We saw guys on stilts, many of the local radio stations were pumping out music (WOKO, WIZN, Eagle Country). There was even a beautiful horse drawn wagon. ...more
