We went on Saturday and were disappointed to find most stuff done for the day. Albeit we got to the fest at 3:00 (it is billed as going to 5:00), but most of the entertainment was over for the day. Be forewarned, this is true for Sunday as well. All planned jugglers, stilt walkers, fiddlers, pirate story times, and musicians take place from 10-3:15.

There were plenty of crafts like make your own treasure box, pirate hats, and necklaces with very helpful student staffers. As well pirate games and an orienteering type treasure hunt using a compass and map. Other than that we took advantage of just viewing LCMM exhibits, which are great and more geared for older kids (8+). There's a lot to learn about the history of our great lake and the LCMM does a great job describing it.

If you have never been to the LCMM before a few things to note. It is not particularly stroller friendly. To get to the boats down by the water it is down a rocky path (and then back up) and then along the water a ways, out on to the dock, up and over some normal obstacles as well to get on/off the boats. And the walking around the museum is in and out of a lot of small out buildings. A baby backpack seems like it might serve you better. One other thing to note, on the way out, you must go through the gift shop so be prepared if you have a "Please Mommy can I have just one...." kind of kid. It is, however, dog-friendly so don't forget the leash.

Since we were down this way, we decide to pop across the street to the Red Mill for dinner - a must on the kid friendly eating out circuit for the gigantic playground and airstrip in the backyard!
