Had to ask if story time was going on and then it was done poorly. Not terribly difficult to read a 10 page book with 50 words to kids. Find 1 employee from the staff of 100 to be a bit more engaging and we would return. Unlikely to shop at a store that can't get this right.

Typical big business that loves to see you buy overpriced books, but actually cars less about anything else. Buttered Noodles is no better anymore unfortunately.

We are sad to share we didn't have the best experience when we went on an outing here a month ago. Staff read one and a half books and you could tell they were very uncomfortable with reading what they did read. Little if any enthusiasm and no excitement to entice the children. When the staff member finished we conquered the stage area and did our own story time which the children were much more engaged in, including other individuals children. We made the best of the situation but will not be returning or recommending it to others. Literacy is important and easy to make fun with a small amount of effort....more

I'm not sure I would be advertising "story-time" on this site!! When I asked her where we should sit she seemed surprised!! The staff member that was on call for it was super nice though. She chose 2 short books, read them and was done. Granted there were only a few kids there, but my 3 yr old was engaged and comfy and certainly ready for more. I was tempted to grab a few and do the readings myself! That probably would have been okay! /> Fortunatley there is a train table and legos so my kid was entertained. I think it could be an awesome thing if it was more organized....more

We didn't have a great experience. The staff only read 2 stories and didn't seem motivated to do any more. It wasn't really worth the ride down there for 2 books. There were not that many parents there either, which leads me to believe the story-time is not attracting many people at this point.

Like another poster, the one time I went the event started late after staff forgot about it -- although my kids didn't notice since they were kept busy by the Thomas train table nearby in the mean time. The focus was a little young for my 2 and 5 year olds, and I would think this would be best for a 1-2 year old set. Personally, I prefer story times at the library where then I can feel good about indulging in my kids' desire to take home every book they read ... with a store I'm left having to say "no" to them more....more

I brought my one year old and he had fun playing with the other kids. The staff had forgotten that it was storytime, but once I asked about it someone came right over and began (only 15 minutes late). I liked that there was a theme to the stories being read and plenty of space for the kids to move around and get comfortable. On a side note- Major props to the Barnes and Noble employee, who, as my son was stealing a neighbor's graham crackers, noticed that he was choking and notified me and I quickly performed Heimlich maneuver and all was well. If you aren't CPR / First Aid Certified, do so! ...more

My daughter had a lot of fun listening to the stories and then doing the activities with the other kids. A nice free event for the little ones.
