I chuckled as I read the review of Princess 1973 because my family and friends have been to Palmers Sugar House many times and have never experienced any of her complaints. Actually we were there on the same day she posted about. It's a Vermont Sugar House not the Ritz Carlton. They have string lighting, picnic tables, paper napkins, a live band and oh yes a dirt parking lot instead of valet parking.
Palmer's Sugar House is a staple in the Shelburne, Hinesburg and Charlotte communities, generations of families gather on the 7 weekends a year of sugaring. The smell of sap boiling, children laughing, music and high quality maple products is in the air! It's worth checking out!!!!...more

I visited the Sugarhouse with my daughter this weekend. The line was long and we got there at noon. It was very dark inside. We got in line, which moved fast. Samples were given out while in line, which was a nice touch. The "sugar" on snow with served with a donut and pickles. The donut was not fresh and pickles was just a cheap grocery store variety. We expected some farm canned pickles and fresh from the vat donuts! The lemonade wasn't made with fresh lemons but good nonetheless.
Seating was picnic benches that customers weren't willing to sit with "strangers." At the last chance, we chose to somewhere but then asked to move. Sure, we will eat standing up, Thanks! Fortunately, a while picnic bench cleared out and we sat down to our snack. We liked the love music but the covers were not exactly fitting for the scene. Kylie Monogues "I just can't get you out of my mind. "
So my daughter wanted to do the sleigh ride. It was not organized at all. Where to stand, what time, cost, etc. The ride cost us $15 for both of us. It wasn't a very relaxing ride between the driver tapping on and on the entire ride and his snippety attitude. There was a lot of stop and go. The blankets looked really dirty.
Also, no rentals to snowshoe or ski the sugarbush. All and all, we won't return to this Sugarhouse!

Came here with my 10 month old. Although it was slightly packed we did find asset indoors to try our maple fried dough. Plenty of activities, live music and variety of maple food choices!

Has a great time! We visited on Maple Open house weekend, lots of delicious treats to eat, Face painting, sleigh rides, playground, mud puddles, and animals to greet. Tried a maple hot dog, and cheesecake with maple sauce- wow!

Such an awesome place! We brought our snowshoes and walked a bit of the trails before we enjoyed some fabulous maple products! The coffee and donuts were free as was the "shot" of warm syrup. They had a bluegrass band playing the day we were there and it was warm and toasty inside. We will definitely be going back. We brought friends from out of state who had never heard of sugar on snow and it exceeded expectations. Thank you!

Nothing says spring in Vermont like a visit to the Palmer Sugarhouse! Yummy maple treats, live music, live animals and much more. Always feels great to support a sugarhouse with a strong family tradition in our area!

We visited for the Maple Open House weekend. My husband and I kept commenting on how much we loved this sugarhouse. The inside was wide open, but with a very authentic and friendly atmosphere. There were plenty of tables to sit, a great little folk band playing, lots of different goodies for sale in the kitchen. We had the sugar on snow (that came with a pickle and donut, of course!) and the fried dough and they were delicious! Outside, there is lots of parking space right next to the building, a play structure for the kids to let loose, and a little petting zoo area. There are also horse drawn sled rides available- we took advantage of everything. This is such a great time of the year to enjoy the warming weather and the maple syrup! This was one of the best sugarhouses we have been to in terms of being family friendly and lots to offer. The staff was warm and inviting- truly a family centered business. Our 3 and 5 year olds loved every minute of our visit and did not want to leave. We wound up spending a few hours just sitting and listening to the band and eating more than our share of maple food. We will definitely be back again next year. Love to support our local family businesses!...more

My family visited Palmer's Sugarhouse twice this season and had such a great time! It's so family friendly with the animals to feed & pet, the coloring table and best of all the syrup! The sugar on snow is fantastic and last weekend the horse rides topped off our Maple Weekend in VT.

Definitely a 'must do' during sugar season. You must try the maple donut and warm syrup--my 13 month old couldn't get enough of it! Though it was packed, there were plenty of tables inside to sit down and enjoy.
