These wonderful activities give us a reason to get to Shelburne Museum almost every week. Now we can look at the exhibits at Pizzagalli Gallery over time, noticing something new each visit and not staying long enough for the kids to get bored! My children are 5, 7, and 9 and all enjoy this program.

The crafts themselves are innovative and often extraordinary; the Museum invests in interesting supplies and has great educators who create crafts that reflect the exhibits.

This winter we've made accordian-style memory scrap books, photo collages with photos the children took themselves on digital Kodak cameras available there, and I-spy jar toys for travel.

This program is a life-saver in the long winter months, to find activity, color, and fun on a Saturday. There's also a Thursday morning session for younger children and home-schoolers.

Art + craft + snow = a great time.

The Snappy Portraits workshop was great fun for myself and my son (3). After walking through the exhibitions (the Kodachrome photographs are beautiful and thought-provoking, and the jewelry exhibition is full of interesting and sparkling creatures and flora), we were inspired to make our own projects. The workshop facilitators were welcoming and helpful, but also gave us space to play on our own. Each table had plenty of art supplies, all appropriate for children and adults. We took photographs with a new Polaroid camera, and could print several of our favorites right there - instant gratification for my son. When my son got frustrated, one of the facilitators came over with another great gadget to try - a die cutting paper tool. We stayed for a full hour - nearly an unheard of amount of time for my kiddo. We will definitely return for another workshop.

Additionally, we asked if we could walk around the snowy grounds, and had fun playing in the snow for 20 minutes -- the perfect amount of time for a very cold day.
